Situation
The client was facing challenges of outdoor exposure, causing accelerated exterior corrosion of the exposed working platform on a fleet of specialty vehicles at their facility. Standard paints and powder coatings had not been as durable as needed, so the client wanted a more durable solution.
Solution
UMI Coatings recommended the use of their EZ25 Hybrid Polyurea Coating for the client’s vehicles. The hybrid nature of the coating combines the fast-curing, durable properties of polyurea with the flexibility and rigidity of polyurethane. This combination offers superior durability and resistance to the tough terrain and wear and tear assets were exposed to regularly, as compared to traditional systems.
An experienced applicator started by preparing the metal surface through physical abrasion (Scotch Brite) to ensure proper adhesion of the coating to the surface. The EZ25 Hybrid Polyurea Coating was then applied to 120mil using specialized equipment to achieve the desired thickness and finish. The application process was completed efficiently within the scheduled downtime to minimize disruption to the client’s operations.
